A striking handmade ceramic serving bowl with a sculptural, flowing form—designed to stand out on any table.

This piece is first thrown on the wheel and then carefully altered and reshaped by hand, creating its organic, asymmetrical silhouette. The result is a bowl that feels dynamic and unique from every angle—both functional and a true statement piece.

The glaze is part of my rustic collection, built up through multiple layered glazes to create depth, movement, and variation. Blue and green tones blend together with subtle hints of earthy brown, shifting across the surface depending on how the glazes interact during firing.

Some areas develop a soft matte finish, while others remain rich and glossy, giving the piece a beautiful contrast in texture. The rim is finished with an ash glaze, creating a natural, slightly rustic effect reminiscent of wood-fired pottery, with gentle drips and variation.

Inside the bowl, the original throwing spiral remains visible, adding another layer of texture and story to the piece.

This yunomi tea cup blends Japanese tradition with rustic, earthy glazes. Hand-thrown in our Melbourne studio, it features a rounded form and layered glazes in turquoise, moss green, and deep brown, creating a natural, wood-fired effect. The glossy tenmoku-inspired interior makes it perfect for enjoying tea, whisky, or any beverage.

Traditionally, a yunomi is a tall, cylindrical cup used for everyday tea drinking in Japan. Its simple, functional shape is designed to retain warmth and enhance the ritual of sipping slowly. This piece reimagines that tradition with an Australian handmade character.

This piece has been thrown and gently shaped to create a form that feels solid, grounded, and comfortable to use. Its slightly squared profile gives it a subtle point of difference while still remaining highly functional.

Finished in my rustic glaze collection, this bowl features layered blue and green tones, with more pronounced earthy red and brown accents breaking through the surface. The interior has a more mottled, textural finish, creating depth and variation that shifts in different light.

As with all pieces in this range, multiple glazes are applied and interact during firing—resulting in a natural mix of soft matte areas and richer glossy sections. The rim is finished with an ash glaze, adding a gentle, organic edge and a subtle wood-fired character.

The throwing lines remain visible inside the bowl, adding to its handmade feel and individuality.
