This handmade 325ml pottery mug features delicate soft blue crystals developing across a warm cream background, finished with a glossy white glazed interior.
The crystalline firing creates its own individual pattern across each mug. Although these two mugs were made and fired together, the placement, size and shape of the crystals vary naturally from one to the other. This makes every mug an individual piece.
With its comfortable rounded form and generous handle, it is a lovely everyday size for coffee, tea or hot chocolate, while the crystalline surface gives it something a little more special.

About the Crystalline Glaze
Crystalline glazing is a specialised firing process in which crystals are encouraged to grow within the glaze while the kiln is held at carefully controlled temperatures.
The results cannot be completely predetermined. Crystal size, placement and movement vary from piece to piece, which is why no two crystalline mugs will ever be exactly alike.
Small variations in form, glaze and crystal pattern are part of the handmade process and make each piece unique.
Care
Food-safe and made for everyday use.
Dishwasher- and microwave-safe, although hand washing is always a gentle option for handmade pottery.
As with all handmade ceramics, avoid sudden extreme temperature changes or thermal shock.

Most Buxton Pottery pieces are made from high-fired stoneware clay, chosen for its strength, durability and suitability for everyday use.
Crystalline pottery pieces are generally made from high-fired porcelain, which provides a smooth, light-coloured surface that allows the crystal glazes to develop clearly during firing.
All pieces are individually handmade and finished with food-safe ceramic glazes.

Orders are carefully packed and dispatched from Melbourne within 2–3 business days. Australia-wide shipping is calculated at checkout.
As each piece is handmade, natural variations in shape, colour and glaze are part of its individual character and are not considered faults.
Buxton Pottery does not accept returns for change of mind. If you are unhappy with your order, please contact me so I can discuss the issue with you.
If an item arrives damaged, please contact me promptly with photos of the item and packaging. Depending on availability, I will arrange a replacement or refund.

Microwave safe and dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended to help preserve the glaze finish.
Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as moving pottery directly from the refrigerator into a hot oven. Buxton Pottery is not thermal-shock ware and should not be exposed to rapid changes in temperature.
