A beautiful one-of-a-kind porcelain vase from the Buxton Pottery Crystalline Collection, featuring delicate white crystal formations over a rich red background.
This hand-thrown vessel has been finished with a red slip before being coated in a white crystalline glaze. During the specialised crystalline firing, the glaze has developed masses of feathery, star-like crystals across the surface. Against the warm red beneath, the pale crystals create an almost frosted effect that changes as the light moves across the glossy glaze.
The softly rounded, squat shape has a generous 8 cm opening, making this piece suitable for a small arrangement of flowers or foliage. It is equally lovely displayed empty, where the form and crystalline surface can be appreciated as a piece of ceramic art.
Every crystalline firing develops differently, so the pattern of crystals on this vase is completely individual.

About Crystalline Pottery
Crystalline glazing is a specialized technique in which visible crystals are encouraged to grow within the glaze during a carefully controlled kiln firing.
Temperature and timing influence how the crystals develop, and the results can never be completely predicted. Each piece emerges from the kiln with its own arrangement of crystal formations, making every crystalline vessel unique.
Handmade Character
Each Buxton Pottery piece is individually made and glazed by hand. Slight variations in shape, surface and glaze are natural characteristics of handmade ceramics and are part of what makes each piece individual.

Crystalline pottery pieces are generally made from high-fired porcelain, which provides a smooth, light-coloured surface that allows the crystal glazes to develop clearly during firing.
All pieces are individually handmade and finished with food-safe ceramic glazes.

Orders are carefully packed and dispatched from Melbourne within 2–3 business days. Australia-wide shipping is calculated at checkout.
As each piece is handmade, natural variations in shape, colour and glaze are part of its individual character and are not considered faults.
Buxton Pottery does not accept returns for change of mind. If you are unhappy with your order, please contact me so I can discuss the issue with you.
If an item arrives damaged, please contact me promptly with photos of the item and packaging. Depending on availability, I will arrange a replacement or refund.

Microwave safe and dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended to help preserve the glaze finish.
Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as moving pottery directly from the refrigerator into a hot oven. Buxton Pottery is not thermal-shock ware and should not be exposed to rapid changes in temperature.
