This handmade pottery mug is wheel-thrown and glazed by hand in my Melbourne studio.

It features a layered exterior glaze with turquoise, rust, brown and earthy ash tones, paired with a glossy red-brown glazed interior. The contrast gives the mug a warm, rustic feel while still being practical for everyday use.

Holding approximately 350ml, it is a comfortable size for coffee, tea, hot chocolate or a generous morning drink.

Each mug is individually handmade and glazed, so the glaze movement and colour placement will vary from piece to piece. This natural variation is part of the beauty of handmade ceramics.

Materials

Most Buxton Pottery pieces are made from high-fired stoneware clay, chosen for its strength, durability and suitability for everyday use.

Crystalline pottery pieces are generally made from high-fired porcelain, which provides a smooth, light-coloured surface that allows the crystal glazes to develop clearly during firing.

All pieces are individually handmade and finished with food-safe ceramic glazes.

Shipping & Returns

Orders are carefully packed and dispatched from Melbourne within 2–3 business days. Australia-wide shipping is calculated at checkout.

As each piece is handmade, natural variations in shape, colour and glaze are part of its individual character and are not considered faults.

Buxton Pottery does not accept returns for change of mind. If you are unhappy with your order, please contact me so I can discuss the issue with you.

If an item arrives damaged, please contact me promptly with photos of the item and packaging. Depending on availability, I will arrange a replacement or refund.

Care Instructions

Microwave safe and dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended to help preserve the glaze finish.

Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as moving pottery directly from the refrigerator into a hot oven. Buxton Pottery is not thermal-shock ware and should not be exposed to rapid changes in temperature.
