Handmade Japanese-Inspired Yunomi – 350ml
This unique yunomi ceramic tea cup blends Japanese tradition with Australian craftsmanship. Hand-thrown in our Melbourne studio, it’s glazed in a mix of layered glazes that create a mottled, wood-fired effect with hints of microcrystals. The interior is lined in glossy dark tenmoku, making it ideal for both hot and cold drinks.
Traditionally, a yunomi is a vertical teacup used daily in Japan. Its form helps retain warmth and enhances the ritual of slow sipping. This handmade version reimagines the style with a warm, rustic finish.

Materials
Materials
Most Buxton Pottery pieces are made from high-fired stoneware clay, chosen for its strength, durability and suitability for everyday use.
Crystalline pottery pieces are generally made from high-fired porcelain, which provides a smooth, light-coloured surface that allows the crystal glazes to develop clearly during firing.
All pieces are individually handmade and finished with food-safe ceramic glazes.
