A beautiful handmade pottery mug featuring soft green crystalline glaze over a warm cream background, with a glossy white glaze inside.
The crystalline firing process allows individual crystals to grow naturally within the glaze during a carefully controlled kiln firing. Because the glaze develops differently across every surface, no two mugs will ever have exactly the same crystal formation.
On this mug, layers of soft sage and deeper green crystals spread across the cream background, creating delicate organic patterns that change around the piece. The simple white interior provides a lovely contrast and makes the mug practical for everyday use.
Hand thrown and individually glazed in my Melbourne pottery studio, this is a functional piece of pottery designed to be enjoyed rather than simply displayed.

About Crystalline Glaze
Crystalline glazing is one of the more unpredictable and fascinating ceramic firing techniques. During the firing, the kiln is held at carefully controlled temperatures that encourage crystals to grow within the molten glaze.
The final pattern cannot be completely controlled, which means every crystalline piece emerges from the kiln with its own individual character.
Handmade in Melbourne
Each Buxton Pottery piece is made individually in my Melbourne studio. Slight variations, throwing lines and differences in glaze movement are part of the handmade process and make each piece unique.
Care
Food safe.
Dishwasher and microwave safe.
Avoid sudden or extreme temperature changes and thermal shock.
A Note About the Mug You Receive
Because crystalline glazes develop individually during firing, crystal placement and pattern will vary from mug to mug.
Each mug is sold individually. If more than one is available and you would like a pair, please select a quantity of two at checkout.

Most Buxton Pottery pieces are made from high-fired stoneware clay, chosen for its strength, durability and suitability for everyday use.
Crystalline pottery pieces are generally made from high-fired porcelain, which provides a smooth, light-coloured surface that allows the crystal glazes to develop clearly during firing.
All pieces are individually handmade and finished with food-safe ceramic glazes.

Orders are carefully packed and dispatched from Melbourne within 2–3 business days. Australia-wide shipping is calculated at checkout.
As each piece is handmade, natural variations in shape, colour and glaze are part of its individual character and are not considered faults.
Buxton Pottery does not accept returns for change of mind. If you are unhappy with your order, please contact me so I can discuss the issue with you.
If an item arrives damaged, please contact me promptly with photos of the item and packaging. Depending on availability, I will arrange a replacement or refund.

Microwave safe and dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended to help preserve the glaze finish.
Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as moving pottery directly from the refrigerator into a hot oven. Buxton Pottery is not thermal-shock ware and should not be exposed to rapid changes in temperature.
